Practicing at least one weapon for each damage type is essential, as some NPCs and
Bosses later on can be immune, resistant or vulnerable to certain damage types. Additionally, weapons have varying "ranges", meaning that you can use them at different formation positions. As large player formations are common at
Archon, having a couple longer range weapons available and on your person at all times is a must. Weapon ranges are indicated by their furthest useable row: front row, 2nd row or any row.
In order of most to least amount of damage for each type - all damage types are approximate, based on commonly used at Hero / Archon level weapons:
PIERCE
- Lance - best damage, good accuracy due to riding combination -- ~225 damage with 10 accuracy, at level 241, front row
- Note: you must be RIDING to use a lance - therefore, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that all Cavaliers should practice and use SPEAR regularly for all no-mount areas
- Spear - good damage, good accuracy -- ~198 pts damage with 15 accuracy at level 241, 2nd row
- Archery - good damage, good accuracy, but uses spell points -- ~198 pts damage with 15 accuracy at level 241, any row
- Hook - low damage, good accuracy (used with backstab) -- ~171 pts damage with 15 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Dagger - low damage, good accuracy (used with backstab) -- ~162 pts damage with 15 accuracy at level 241, front row
SLASH
- Axe - great damage, low accuracy -- ~218 pts damage with 10 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Note: contrary to popular assumptions, lance is actually the highest damage single-hand weapon in the game
- Sword - medium damage, excellent accuracy -- ~180 pts damage with 18 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Whip - low damage, low accuracy -- ~166 pts damage with 9 accuracy at level 241, front row
BASH
- Flail - good damage, low accuracy -- ~198 pts damage with 9 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Mace - medium damage, good accuracy -- ~189 pts damage with 15 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Staff - medium damage, good accuracy -- ~189 pts damage with 13 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Yo-yo - low damage, excellent accuracy -- ~167 pts damage with 18 accuracy at level 241, TBD row
- Bola - low damage, good accuracy -- ~162 pts damage with 13 accuracy at level 241, front row
OTHER
- Magical-Wand - good damage, good accuracy -- ~198 pts damage with 15 accuracy at level 241, any row - training wand is a must for all Archons. - equal to Spear at Archon.
- Exotic - Generally around "sword" or lower equivalency in terms of damage. Varies based on the weapon, but useful to have for NPCs immune to standard damage types
- There are many different damage-type weapons for each weapon type, including an air-damage spear or a flames-damage magical-wand. You can get pretty creative with weapon and damage choices while building gear sets at Archon.
TWO-HANDED - Archon Only
Note: unless you are a Minotaur, you cannot hold a shield and must use BOTH hands to wield a two-handed weapon:
- Two-Handed Axe ~252 pts damage with 12 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Two-Handed Sword ~225 pts damage with 14 accuracy at level 241, front row
- Maul ~220 pts damage with 14 accuracy at level 241, front row
