Getting There
You ratchet a frozen handle forward a bit, to 5/5 notches. The cold of the handle seeps into you, slowing your heart. The eyes on the gate slide open, and fixate their gaze upon you.
Inside the Area
After being transferred inside, you may want to sleep up and regen hp a bit. The rooms ahead are trapped but even if you don't have the disarm traps skill, you may have a chance to dodge/disarm the trap. When ready, go all west, 3d, and west to come to an intersection. There'a death trap to the southwest, don't go there.
Follow the path northwest instead and explore every corner to get the following items: (Item IDs are listed below. All weapons are nodecay no-dispel and level-adjusted. Level must be <= 60 to wear them.)

You focus your powers of observation on a dwarven cot: Item 'a dwarven cot' is type furniture, alignment 0, made of cloth (in (new) condition), has keywords 'dwarven cot'. This item weighs 0 stones and 32 pebbles, and is valued at 0 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified no-sac no-donate owner-only insulated wont-fuse vanish-on-expiry This item has a default lifespan of 45 days and will expire on Sat Nov 9 04:05:20 2013. This cot is usefully simple and just tolerably stiff enough for a nap in the wilderness. It does the job, keeping the explorer from sleeping in ant hills or lion dung, so there aren't any complaints there. A collapsible frame folds together with a thick bar on either end, and collapsible poles on the sides, while the cloth folds over and wraps around as it folds. It seals up into a tight little package, perfect for slotting into the side of your pack. +++ an dwarven cot will, when dropped, bounce back into its owner's hands if the room is flagged as vanishing-items. ----- You focus your powers of observation on a dwarven decanter: Item 'a dwarven decanter' is type fountain, alignment 0, made of crystal (in (new) condition), has keywords 'dwarven decanter'. This item weighs 0 stones and 15 pebbles, and is valued at 0 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified no-sac no-donate insulated wont-fuse no-give vanish-on-expiry This item has a default lifespan of 14 days and will expire on Wed Oct 9 04:58:06 2013. This item is filled with water. The decanter is made of lead crystal, and is rather heavy. It is filled to the brim with a clear liquid that appears to be water. The facets of the crystal sparkle as you examine the container before raising it to your lips. Strangely, no matter how deeply you drink, the decanter remains full. While the water remains, it's almost as if the container itself is fading away, day by day; perhaps the container's magic will sputter out eventually, as the container disappears and the water goes to waste. ----- You focus your powers of observation on Goatstrangler, the snapping snake: Item 'Goatstrangler, the snapping snake' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of organic (in (new) condition), has keywords 'goatstrangler sinuous snake snapping whip', equipped wielded as a weapon. This item weighs 0 stones and 77 pebbles, and is valued at 4,350 gold. This level 22 item has the attributes: identified wont-fuse unbreakable nodecay no-dispel level-adjusted bind-on-wear When obtained/equipped this will adjust to 100% of the bearer's level. Weapon type is whip, does 23 points of slash damage for 1 stamina, accuracy 13. With your knowledge of 'whip', this weapon can cause up to 26 points of damage against 0 ar. Special weapon attributes: vorpal *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. This sinuous, slithering whip shifts about restlessly, animated by some deeper desire to strangle foes into death. Glinting dully like a cobra's skin, it's only leaving you be on account of you grasping the bound and sealed handle. Unleashing the serpent within and lashing out with the fury of a thousand downpours is what this whip was made for, and all the years sat alone in the darkness have only made it hungrier, emptier and angrier. ----- You focus your powers of observation on a dusty weapon rack: Item 'a dusty weapon rack' is type container, alignment 0, made of stone (in (new) condition), has keywords 'dusty weapon rack'. This item weighs 3 stones and 4 pebbles, and is valued at 0 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified nodecay Capacity: 15 items. Maximum weight: 3 st, 50 pb. Flags: closeable closed seethrough When you look inside, you see: the crusader's pike, Lightseeker (new) a branch of the unseeing tree (new) Heartseeker (new) the world below, Foecrusher (new) the silent death, Stonebreaker (new) the whirlwind from the darkness, Storm's Eye (new) the malevolent shanker, Ribtickler (new) the nightblade, Midnight (new) A total of 8 items weighing 6 sts, 40 pbs. There looks to be space for ten to fifteen weapons on this rack, but some are missing, perhaps snatched up in a desperate rush during the exodus from this little subterranean community. A thick admantite clamp sits halfway down each slot, presumably for locking the weapon in, but fortunately all locks have been removed and the clamps are only pushed closed. Item 'the crusader's pike, Lightseeker' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of energy (in (new) condition), has keywords 'elegant pike crusader lightseeker', equipped wielded as a weapon. This item weighs 0 stones and 80 pebbles, and is valued at 4,350 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified wont-fuse unbreakable nodecay no-dispel level-adjusted bind-on-take When obtained/equipped this will adjust to 100% of the bearer's level. Weapon type is pike, does 22 points of pierce damage for 3 stamina, accuracy 14. You do not have the knowledge of 'pike' required to equip this weapon. Special weapon attributes: sharp Alters power of 'searing touch' by 10. *Your alignment must be greater than 100 to use this item. *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. *This item is bound to x. This weapon was crafted from meteorite, but it's become more than that, now more energy than physical material. Soaked in years of righteous energy and the blood of deviants, this pike's first owners, paladins from a long-gone order, slowly molded it to their own ends, and now the pike itself burns with holy fire, an urge to do good and to slay the evil. Holding it is like an itch, one that can't be stopped unless the pike is buried deep within the chest of an undead. It's not particularly heavy or unwieldy, just because it needs to move, to go somewhere only you can take it. +++ the crusader's pike, Lightseeker has a 10% chance to gore a NPC opponent for 5% of its current health if it is undead, healing the wielder for 5 HP. +++ the crusader's pike, Lightseeker rejects evil, and will burn the wielder for committing it. You focus your powers of observation on a branch of the unseeing tree: Item 'a branch of the unseeing tree' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of obsidian (in (new) condition), has keywords 'staff branch unseeing sightbringer tree', equipped wielded as a weapon. This item weighs 0 stones and 80 pebbles, and is valued at 5,750 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified wont-fuse unbreakable nodecay no-dispel level-adjusted bind-on-wear When obtained/equipped this will adjust to 100% of the bearer's level. Weapon type is staff, does 21 points of bash damage for 2 stamina, accuracy 13. With your knowledge of 'staff', this weapon can cause up to 17 points of damage against 0 ar. Excepting defenses and dynamic modifiers, you will hit 45% of the time. Special weapon attributes: echoing-strike *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. Stripped from a tree that lived and died underground, this branch grew knowing only darkness. The unseeing trees are a existence unique to the underground world, the caverns and tunnels of the depths. It's about seven feet long and of a good, solid width, but rather than being comfortable to wield, it feels off. Something slipping down your back, something pressing in from the empty air around you, it feels like something is there, like a darkness that's been there all your life that's all you've known. You focus your powers of observation on Heartseeker: Item 'Heartseeker' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of obsidian (in (new) condition), has keywords 'bow heartseeker', equipped wielded as a weapon. This item weighs 0 stones and 80 pebbles, and is valued at 6,050 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified wont-fuse unbreakable nodecay no-dispel level-adjusted bind-on-wear When obtained/equipped this will adjust to 100% of the bearer's level. Weapon type is bow, does 20 points of pierce damage for 1 stamina, accuracy 15. You do not have the knowledge of 'archery' required to equip this weapon. Special weapon attributes: echoing-strike *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. Taken and cured from one of the unseeing trees that grow deep in the under ground caverns, this bow has something residing within, an almost tangible hunger. Holding it produces a dull, thudding sound in the wielder's ears, much like a heartbeat, and past owners have apparently developed enough of a hunger for hearts that they tore out their own. The white wood has a faint red tinge to it, and one so permanent that it could only be produced by soaking in the relevant liquid. You focus your powers of observation on the world below, Foecrusher: Item 'the world below, Foecrusher' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of obsidian (in (new) condition), has keywords 'jagged stone mace world below foecrusher', equipped wielded as a weapon. This item weighs 0 stones and 80 pebbles, and is valued at 5,350 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified wont-fuse unbreakable nodecay no-dispel level-adjusted bind-on-wear When obtained/equipped this will adjust to 100% of the bearer's level. Weapon type is mace, does 21 points of bash damage for 3 stamina, accuracy 10. With your knowledge of 'mace', this weapon can cause up to 10 points of damage against 0 ar. Excepting defenses and dynamic modifiers, you will hit 26% of the time. Special weapon attributes: battering *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. The head of the mace is a simple, jagged block of some unknown stone hewn from the world deep below the surface. It's a translucent black, and catches the light in perfectly distracting ways. In the center of the block, a hefty black shaft with some hemp grips and a wrist strap attached provides a safe handhold. It's a reasonable size, just heavy enough to do some damage but light enough to be able to swing with one hand. Item 'the silent death, Stonebreaker' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of crystal (in (new) condition), has keywords 'lance black crystal silent death stonebreaker', equipped wielded as a weapon. This item weighs 0 stones and 80 pebbles, and is valued at 4,350 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified wont-fuse unbreakable nodecay no-dispel level-adjusted bind-on-wear When obtained/equipped this will adjust to 100% of the bearer's level. Weapon type is lance, does 25 points of pierce damage for 3 stamina, accuracy 10. You do not have the knowledge of 'lance' required to equip this weapon. Special weapon attributes: vorpal *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. While unknown, terrible things lurk in the darkness, abstract phantoms that worry at your mind and not your body, sometimes something terrible actually does make an appearance, justifying all your paranoia and worries. The dwarves knew this well, and this long, vicious lance forged from opaque black crystal is a perfect realization of the idea 'what they can't see can gore them even more spectacularly'. Even in a well-lit area, this lance doesn't seem to reflect any, and more absorbs it. You focus your powers of observation on the whirlwind from the darkness, Storm's Eye: Item 'the whirlwind from the darkness, Storm's Eye' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of obsidian (in (new) condition), has keywords 'axe whirlwind darkness storm eye', equipped wielded as a weapon. Weapon type is axe, does 24 points of slash damage for 2 stamina, accuracy 14. You do not have the knowledge of 'axe' required to equip this weapon. Special weapon attributes: vorpal *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. Dwarven berserkers are feared across the world, and for good reason. With enough ale in them and a good axe in hand, they've been a staple of invading armies and mercenary bands for centuries. This axe looks to have seen plenty of use; dwarven teeth marks cover the handle, probably from when its wielder got a good bloodthirst worked up prior to battle, and hundreds of scratches decorate the double-sided obsidian head, perfect for swinging around and around like a maelstrom with the wielder in the eye. You focus your powers of observation on the malevolent shanker, Ribtickler: Item 'the malevolent shanker, Ribtickler' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of obsidian (in (new) condition), has keywords 'cruel dagger ribtickler malevolent shanker', equipped wielded as a weapon. Weapon type is dagger, does 18 points of pierce damage for 1 stamina, accuracy 14. You do not have the knowledge of 'dagger' required to equip this weapon. Special weapon attributes: sharp *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. The blade is thin and cruel, a snaking obsidian creation that would make it very, very hard to pull out cleanly after slipping it into someone's guts or between their ribs. The creator obviously put a lot of thought into how best to make a functional yet cruelly torturous dagger, because it almost seems to guide your hand between ribs, which would then splinter and crack when the dagger's withdrawn. The handle is simple and compact, a leather wrap with a small guard, but the real horror is the blade. Item 'the nightblade, Midnight' is type weapon, alignment 0, made of meteorite (in (new) condition), has keywords 'sword slim elegant blade nightblade midnight', equipped wielded as a weapon. This item weighs 0 stones and 80 pebbles, and is valued at 8,350 gold. This level 10 item has the attributes: identified wont-fuse unbreakable nodecay no-dispel level-adjusted bind-on-wear When obtained/equipped this will adjust to 100% of the bearer's level. Weapon type is sword, does 20 points of slash damage for 2 stamina, accuracy 13. You do not have the knowledge of 'sword' required to equip this weapon. Special weapon attributes: battering Casts the level 60 spell, 'cover of darkness'. *Your level must be less than or equal to 60 to use this item. *This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times. *This item has a limit of [1] per character. Down a fearsomely large blade shivers a sheath of night. The darkness cloaks the blade, cleansing and sharpening it, preparing it - and you - for the coming battles, and the falling night. The blade itself seems to be made from meteorite, and it's been honed and sharpened into a weighty, yet elegant and thin blade. It doesn't have much of a hilt, which is to be expected, although some jagged ridges help catch and deflect incoming blows. -----

Far above your head, burning through the clouds and the murk is the sun, and between that is the threat of death looming over you. Death comes in many forms; perhaps an eagle screams down from the sky, or a meteor tumbles from the burning dome above, or even a chance lightning strike. Far down in the depths, the stalactites lurk over the heads of travelers, tumbling at random and when they make the worst of mistakes - too much noise.
