Introduction

Availability: Once every 6 hours.
Average length: 30 - 60 minutes.

Fairy easy run, good for beginners, requires at least 2 Archon form members.

Preparation

Reagents, spell mems, you will need some method of magic unlock and some form of dispel area is also helpful.

From recall in Vir head s, e, se, ne, e, ne, n, w, w, w, nw, w, s, d, n, ne, ne, ne, n, e, e, e to a locked door. Cast magic unlock on it then head all east to Vextrinas, Priestess of Fire.

Vextrinas, Priestess of Fire encounter

Immune to: summon, charm, bash, fire, acid, disease, steal
Resistant to: poison, earth, necromantic, wood
Vulnerable to: water, iron
* 'sanctuary', cast at level 350.
* 'fireshield', cast at level 350
* 'haste', cast at level 350.

She is fairly easy, she will cast bolt spells for around 2k damage, Psionic spells (watch for TKwave unforming) and will breath fire attacks. Near death she will try to darknen the room, so be prepared for it. A toy can be helpful in killing her, but be sure to give it a shield to block the fire attacks and check its HP regularly. Vextrinas, Priestess of Fire can be fully spelled up, although she will dispel self often, so you will need to reapply.

Once you have slain her, search the room, and then disarm and unlock the east exit with the fire key she dropped. Set your defense to dodge and wear an improved invis item to help prevent getting paralyzed. Then head e, d, 2s, 2se, s, 2sw, nw, search for another nw then go nw, w, nw (private room, you may have to wait for mobs to vacate it), 2sw. This is where a chained guardian will be, dispel it and fully spell it up. It's a Psionic mob, and not too hard especially if you flash bomb it. You need to get a palladium pick from him. Unlock west, and go west to the CPK. If you feel like preventing others from following you, you can choose to lock the door back. Enter the gate once you are ready.

Vextrinas, Priestess of Fire carries:

This level 10 item has the attributes: identified
The underside of a massive, complex key is in excellent condition.
This key may be used an unlimited number of times.
*This item may be repaired 5 times.
It's difficult to tell what this is, exactly. It looks like a piece of
an unusually well-defined piece of scrap metal, but for the big engraving,
'KEY', on the long, flat part. It doesn't look like any regular key, or
even any kind of uncommon key, for that matter. Perhaps it will all come
together, later.

Item 'the fire key' is type key, alignment 230, made of unknown-alloy,
has keywords 'fire key'.
This item weighs 0 stones and 3 pebbles, and is valued at 2,950 gp.

This key scorches all it comes in contact with. From the flames it
emanates, the room is lit with an eerie glow. The metal glows a bright red,
yet seems unconsumed by the searing heat. The imprint of a dracon wing has
been inset into the key's handle, perhaps this is some clue to its use.

Item 'the command of the Source' is type book, alignment -350, made of paper,
has keywords 'source command book'.
This item weighs 0 stones and 10 pebbles, and is valued at 9,010 gp.

When you open this small book you are a bit startled by what you read.
Contained in this book are fanatical messages talking about an entity known
only as the Source. By the looks of what you read, the Source in danger of
being taken from the dracon race, and if this were to happen the race would
cease to exist. After skimming through the passages, you come to understand
why some dracons are as fanatical as they are; they believe their very
existance hinges on protecting their precious Source.

Item 'an invocation of the Source' is type book, alignment -350, made of paper,
has keywords 'source invocation book'.
This item weighs 0 stones and 9 pebbles, and is valued at 9,010 gp.
This level 130 item has the attributes: identified
An invocation of the Source is in excellent condition.
*This item may be repaired 6 times.
You open the cover of this book and begin to flip through the pages. As
you read, you see what appear to be many chants that refer to some entity
called the Source. From the context, you come to understand that the Source
has a very sacred meaning to the entire dracon race. Seeing that you are in
the city of dracons, it might be a good idea to seek the blessings of this
Source. Having a little extra luck on your side never hurt.

Item 'a ward of fire bane' is type jewelry, alignment 350, made of mithril,

*Your class must be something other than cavalier to use this item.
*Your class must be something other than druid to use this item.
*This item may be repaired 2 times.
A chain linked amulet worn by dracon worshippers reflects flames with a
spectacular glow. The mithril is polished to a mirror-like finish. It is
decorated with many symbols that are from a lost civilization and cannot be
understood by mortals anymore, at least none of which you know. The amulet
is quite cool to the touch and seems to have a fluidity about it that
reminds you of water for some reason. This ward may be of some use in
places of extreme heat.

Beyonder, Guardian Of The Source encounter

Immune to: summon, charm, cold, lightning, negative, holy, energy, disease, necromantic, steal
Resistant to: magic, pierce, slash, fire, poison, light
Vulnerable to: none
* 'sanctuary', cast at level 350.
* 'fireshield', cast at level 350.
* 'haste', cast at level 350.

Once inside, scan for Beyonder, Guardian Of The Source and move to him, he is a lot easier than Vextrinas, Priestess of Fire. He will dispel self, if you spell him up, so dont worry about dispelling him if you dont have a timepiece. He will rarely bolt, but it is known to happen, he will breath fire damage attacks and throw bombs, so web him to reduce the chance of bombs. He can be counter spelled to make it a little easier, should you counter silence onto him, you will need to counter his next spells cast while silenced or the tank will get extinctioned. Once he falls to around vomiting blood heath stage he will get a second wind and heal back up to around beaten up, keep going and he will die this time.

instructions on how to perform a magical spell. Other wizards can 'scribe'
it into their spellbooks and thus learn the spell in order to cast it many
times, or it can be cast directly from the scroll one time if necessary.

Mithril strips cross back and forth over the surface of the steel mold.
When opened the shape of the mold appears to be some sort of helm.
Inscribed into the base of the mold is a detailed pictorial of an unfamiliar
dragon flying across a full moon.

*This item may be repaired 4 times and renewed 4 times.
Dropped by some interlocutor with nefarious plans, the butt of the kobudo
bears the telltale insignia of the Caliph of Slaughter & Commissioner of
Xenocide. The kobudo itself is rather powerful, and clearly originally
wielded by some assassin of considerable skill- yet the Beyonder is so far
beyond most mortals' comprehension, it is little surprise that the assassin
failed. Exactly how is not clear, but the end result is here.
+++ a kobudo of the faithless has a chance, when its PC wielder casts
'induce aggression' at another PC, to 'weaken' its wielder's opponent, at a
cost of 175st, at a rate of 30%.
