The miniquest begins in the village of Gilvery, located along the coastline just southwest of Desert Thorne. At 7am on Mondays and Fridays (game time), Farmer Broshed will go into his study, shuffle through some papers, sigh and frown and be generally unhappy. Sayto Broshed, 'What's wrong?'. He'll tell you a sob story about his corn crops. Sayto Broshed, 'Need help?'. He'll chuckle at you and say he needs an expert agrnonomist, but thanks anyway for the offer.

So now the question arises, who could this expert agronomist possibly be? Rumours are that it's Kode the Lonely (http://www.annwn.info/npc/4710). He's an NPC that appears in various taverns in Xaventry at what seem like random times. I found him in the tavern on the east side of towne at about 11pm on a Friday night, and the tavern on the west side at 8pm on Thursday night. I took him a clump of soil (http://www.annwn.info/item/5286) that I found while digging in the vegetable garden in Gilvery (since agronomists, by nature, love dirt). He didn't trigger to my walking in or out, or to anything that I said to him about Gilvery or its residents. I gave him a beer (since he's an alcoholic), and I didn't get a reaction. I gave him a spade (to go with the love of dirt), and again, nothing. Finally, I gave him the dirt. What did he do?

You give a clump of soil to Kode the Lonely.
'What the hell would I want with some dirt?' Kode the Lonely asks.
Kode the Lonely breaks a clump of soil in his hand and lets the debris fall to the ground.

I tried saying lots of other things to him, to no avail. Finally, at midnight..

Midnight.' Kode the Lonely says. 'Time for this cowpoke to turn into a pumpkin.'
Kode the Lonely wanders off.

2013 Update: if you dig up the clump of soil, it initially says it will last for over 1800 minutes, but the next tick, it will only last for 120 minutes. There is also a semi-automatic cowbell for sale at Thereste's shop. Its description says: "Thereste's Cowbell. For Mimicking Ornery Livestock and Practical Jokes. USE to use." If it's used in any bars in Xaventry where Kode might hang out, anywhere in Gilvery this is what happens: "This is not a suitable place for that."

This is as far as I've gotten. Sadly. There are a lot of other strange happenings in Gilvery; a vicious female pirate named The Dread Pirate Kali (which you will learn plently about if you look at the area hints), an impressive female blacksmith that is famous around the world who created two horrible weapons called the sister-scythes (one of which, named "Catastrophe", is wielded by Kali), and just the creepy fact that everything seems so perfect in Gilvery. It's kind of like the Stepford wives.. much too perfect to be good. The village definately has a dark secret - and way too many locked doors. (You can't blink here, either).

As far as The Dread Pirate Kali goes, this is what I know: Everyone in the village seems to know about her. If you sayto any of the main mobs, "the dread pirate kali", they will most likely react. Most of them love her. The only one who doesn't seem to is Sagrast, the guy at recall. He says he doesn't know her but that she's a pirate of the worst kind. Anyway, after asking everyone about her in the towne, you'll find out she shows up in the Trading Post twice every weekend. I saw her at 8pm on a Friday night. One of the hints says she only challenges adventurers of certain experience. I attacked her, she kicked me out of the room. A hero attacked her, and the same. A third classer, the same. Finally, a second classer attacked and she shouted for joy and decided to stay in combat. As soon as the second classer fled, she jumped up into the rafters, cackled, and disappeared.

A few other interesting things, the farmer's daughter is.. well.. quite promiscuous (you'll find that out if you stand with her long enough - especially in her bedroom). Her mother is very protective and corrective. Her father gets upset if you mention his daughter. There's also a towne drunk who thinks you're cute and doesn't know how to count backwards from 99. The baker and butcher are very much in love and don't care who knows about it. And there are two entities who got lost in Hellbent and are now judging your soul.

If you want to get some good reactions from the locals, try these saytos:

Sayto the daughter, 'uncle'

Sayto Broshed, 'sister-scythes'

Sayto Thereste (the blacksmith), 'sister-scythes'

Sayto Broshed, 'chest' (the only chest I've found is in the rancher's house)

Sayto Janis (the baker), 'adrium'

Sayto Adrium (the butcher), 'janis'

Sayto pretty much anyone in the towne, 'the dread pirate kali'

Sayto Broshed, 'permission'

I know this isn't much info, but it's all I've gotten so far. If you figure out anything else, please add your findings!
