Within Cogworks City there are a few items you can buy, one being the lunar breastplate, which requires a long grind to farm "an imbued gnomerite bar":
- To get these bars, go northeast of Cogwork City (in the wilds) and kill the mob "a radiated soil golem". They will drop a chunk of gnomerite.
- Take the chunk of gnomerite to The Gnomerite Refinery (81184) and PUT CHUNK MACHINE. Out comes a a bar of refined gnomerite. That bar will indicate a boss target that you need to kill WHILE WEARING the bar. These bosses can range anywhere from like Volzan to Jake.
- When you kill a boss while holding the bar, it will turn into a imbued gnomerite bar.
- 8 imbued gnomerite bars can be artificed into a pile of gnomerite.
- You need 8 total piles, which would require 48 imbued gnomerite bars in total.
The breastplate also requires "the heart of the sun-touched", "a lunar core", and 4 cogsteel bars.
- The heart of the sun-touched is dropped by Ral the Sun-cloaked at a VERY LOW rate.
- The lunar core is dropped by moon beacon mobs at a VERY LOW rate. (The Cogwork tutorial will show you how to make moon beacons)
- Cogsteel bars are sold at the Cogworks quartermaster in Central Command (81200).

Forged with a multitude of Gnomerite bars imbued with the essence of
powerful creatures and the smoldering heart of a powerful mantoid, this
breastplate radiates with an intense power. It also radiates a powerful
anguished aura which leads you to believe wearing this armor might have some
unintended consequences.
+++ A lunar breastplate, when its wearer casts a spell in combat, has a
chance to increase their damage based on the damage type of the weapon
they're wearing. This chance is increased by the complexity of the spell
and reduced every time this ability activates. The reduction in chance
decays over time while worn in combat, eventually resetting to its base
value.
